Prof. Dr. Torsten Dellmann
IFS
The suspension technology to be mentioned as a basic component of automotive engineering is a part of te research at IFS. Special emphasis is placed on the issues of tracking. These range from, for example, studies on the influence of profile geometries from the driving behavior to the development of novel tracking concepts and the construction of complete undercarriages. In addition to the landing gear, other components of rail vehicles are treated. In particular the brakes, but also other components such as Pantograph or couplings may be mentioned here.
The second priority is concerned with the operating procedures. For this purpose the automation and increasing efficiency in rail traffic are in charge. As well as the issues of handling equipment or vehicle ergonomics thus including the question of how the passenger or cargo are treated.
