The „Geschäftsstelle Elektromobilität“ (GSE) is the internal and external counterpart of the RWTH Aachen regarding the interdisciplinary topic area electro-mobility. Over 30 different institutes of the RWTH Aachen explore electric vehicles and the integration of these vehicles in the traffic system with all its facets. The GSE coordinates all the activities within the RWTH Aachen. Furthermore, the GSE provides a central access to this expertise of the RWTH for industry, economics and politics.
Our tasks include:
The competencies in the area of electro-mobility cover research and development regarding components of the electric power train, for example batteries, power electronics and electric motors, together with their integration in innovative vehicle concepts for the “Purpose Design Approach”. Furthermore the RWTH Aachen is developing an infrastructure for electro-mobility. Due to a holistic approach, the RWTH Aachen is able to examine the development of vehicles and components and simultaneously concentrates on the intelligent producibility for these vehicles. The exploration field electro-mobility is completed by the development of innovative mobility concepts and business models, which will have a sustainable influence on the urban mobility. A common nucleus is represented by the technological platform StreetScooter with the continuous support of the GSE.
